1. Rick Shinto, the CEO and President
Rick Shinto previously served as the CEO and president of Aveta Inc. for four years. Shinto is in charge of InnovaCare’s healthcare plans based in Puerto Rico. Richard’s 20 years’ experience lies in clinical and operational healthcare.
He worked with NAMM California as the chief medical officer, Medical Pathways Management Company as the COO, and MedPartners as the VP of medical management. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree from the Irvine California University, a medical degree from Stony Brook-based New York University and a master’s in business administration from the Redlands University.
2. Penelope Kokkinides, the Chief Administrative Officer
Penelope Kokkinides joined InnovaCare in 2015 as the chief operating officer. Previously, she served as Aveta’s chief operating officer and clinical operations VP. She was one the three employees added on InnovaCare’s leadership team. The others were Jonathan Meyers, the chief actuary officer and Mike Sortino, the chief accounting officer. Her 20 years of expertise lies in Medicaid, Medicare and managed care.
She graduated with classical languages and biological sciences degrees from New York University. She also attended Columbia University and graduated with a public health master’s degree. Throughout her career, Kokkinides managed healthcare activities on hrmronline.com and developed clinical programs focused on improving healthcare institutions’ productivity.
